“Quan ho” folk singing contest opens
Almost 200 artists, both amateurs and professional, are competing at the 22nd “Quan ho” (love duets) folk singing contest in the northern province of Bac Ninh.

Quan ho folklore popularized in France
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has permitted the Vietnam Institute of Culture and Arts Studies, the Vietnam Cultural Center in France in coordination with Bac Ninh and Bac Giang provincial Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism to popularize quan ho folklore in France.
Pho Hien – Hoi An of the north
Pho Hien is a historical site in Hung Yen Province, about 70 kilometers southeast of Hanoi. In the 15th to 18th centuries it was a famous merchant port in Vietnam and it was a small historic town on the banks of the Red River.
Viet Nam welcomes the six-millionth international visitor
On December 26th 2011, the Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) welcomed the six-millionth international visitor at Hon Gai Jetty in Ha Long City (Quang Ninh Province). The Viet Nam tourism’s target of welcoming around 5.3 to 5.5 millions international visitors in 2011 has been over-fulfilled.
HCM City hopes to welcome 3.8 million int’l visitors in 2012
HCM City aims to receive 3.8 million foreign arrivals in 2012, 8 percent more than in 2011, according to the Municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Flower festival to usher in New Year
A giant picture of Khue Van Cac (Pavilion of the Constellation of Literature) made of thousands of dry flowers will be featured at the 2012 Flower Festival which begins on the evening of December 30 to celebrate the New Year.
